Nope I also use Maeploy and didn't find it that spicy myself. Though the amount of paste called for in any recipe is not really about the heat, it is more about the concentration of all the herbs and spices. The less paste you use, the less flavour you also add. But if you're happy with the flavour of 1 Tbsp then that's great, but also consider using another brand of curry paste that's less spicy so you can use more?
